Roxbury High School has developed an articulation agreement with the United Brothers of Carpenters and Joiners of America. As part of our agreement, the carpenter's union provided us with textbooks and a framework for our course, their textbooks cover topics in woodworking, residential construction, commercial construction, and construction math. This week students began exploring the many careers that fall within the construction and carpentry careers umbrella thanks to the textbook One Trade, Many Careers. Throughout this process students were exposed to a wide array of trades that fall within construction and learned about the many projects a carpenter may do. As part of this week's lessons students had an opportunity to research a career that interested them (either in or outside the skilled trades world) and develop a career plan with goals to get themselves there.
