Portrait of a Graduate: The First Step in Transforming Our School System

Every school system is unique, but we are connected by a shared aspiration: that all students have an educational experience preparing them to be effective lifelong learners and contributors.

Now more than ever, that experience must not only provide for the acquisition of rigorous academic content, but it must also be more intentional about fostering critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and other 21st century skills our young people need to thrive in this complex, rapidly changing world.

This year, our school district engaged our Roxbury community in developing our unique Portrait of a Graduate that articulates the our aspirations for all students.

Developed by parents, students, teachers, administrators and Board members, Roxbury's Portrait of a Graduate serves as a collective vision that will help us provide strategic direction for the redesign of the overall educational experience for students so that we can ensure all Roxbury graduates embody these essential skills:

  • Thinkers and Inquirers

  • Life Readiness

  • Adaptability and Resilience

  • Leadership

  • Emotional Intelligence

  • Active Citizenship

The school and public community will have an opportunity to participate in a survey and vote on the design that best captures the essence of a Portrait of a Graduate. Voting will commence on April 16th and conclude on May 16th.

PLEASE CLICK HERE to participate in the selection of the top (2) designs.  The winning design will represent our Portrait of a Graduate and be revealed at the May 20th Board of Education meeting.
