Chapter 2 - Cubby Project
Prior to the close of in person schooling last year, our students designed a three dimensional rendering of what the project would look like in Google SketchUp.
We welcome Mr. Christopher Conroy to the Roxbury High School Engineering, Design, & Technology Department as a student teacher this semester. Mr. Conroy is a senior at The College of New Jersey where he majors in Technology & Engineering Education. Mr. Conroy will be working with Mr. Caccavale to teach both Structural Design & Fabrication and Woodworking courses.

Chapter 2: Summary
Structural Design & Fabrication students of the 2019-2020 school year were challenged to build cubby's for one of elementary school classrooms. The teacher wanted a place for students to keep their books and other belongings. Thank you to last year's students for their design and preliminary work on this project prior to school moving to fully virtual learning last March. This year's SDF class didn't waste any time picking up on their project and were able to finish the cubby project in the early weeks of our class. Students first were tasked with reading the plans any laying out the cut lines on the plywood to maximize material, after that they learned to safely use the panel saw and pocket hole machine to complete the project. Students' precision measurement skills were also used to create the final product to the given specifications. Roxbury's SDF class looks forward to finding other ways to benefit the schools and the local community.
