Week 6: Podcast

Week 6: Summary

Students have been hard at work learning a variety of construction techniques. We started the week by learning about roofing and laying shingles on our firewood racks from week 5. After completing that project students began to learn about framing through our architectural model and beginning to do some hands on framing of a shed. More photos to follow next week!

Students in the later class worked the last few weeks on benches for our Lincoln-Roosevelt Elementary School. These benches fold to be used as a table and two can be combined for one picnic table. Students had to be mindful of the weight distribution to ensure they built a bench that was going to handle the wear and tear of daily use. Students continue to gain practice and familiarity with a variety of construction tools and processes. We continue to get more and more done and are making plans for even larger projects in the coming weeks and months.
